Is only 'Fair' the 'Lovely'?

As I walked towards the cosmetics counter, the girl behind the desk (trying to chipkaao something or the other) literally ran towards me and said "Ma'am ye product dekhiye- aapki skin type ke liye best hai, use to kar ke dekho- aapki sari tanning hat jayegi- Ma'am- take my word- laao main try karwati hoon aapko". She was trying to sell me a fairness product.

I mean what the hell!! I am simply in love with my complexion. I am thankful for being blessed with a perfect wheatish complexion and I have no intentions whatsoever to get gori or gorier. I have no personal grudges against these sales girls- they get paid for identifying the potential customers to buy their fairness enhancing products- they are doing what their job is. Neither do I curse these FMCG companies cuz I understand they are doing their business- they just hit the target right- minting money taking advantage of the firangi procreated complex in Indians regarding their complexions.

Gimme a break dude!! its been over 60 years they are gone from our country and we are no more blacks. We are Indians- and we look best wheatish.

Check out the most b'ful actresses in bollywood- Madhu Bala, Hema Malini, Rekha, Madhuri Dixit, Sonali Bendre, Rani Mukherjee, Bipasha Basu, Sushmita Sen- aint they lovely? And are they fair?? And those who want to argue about Katrina Kaif and Aishwarya Rai being Fair and Lovely, they are requested to give one serious thought on- do they look Indian enough?

Not just the organizations and their employees, this society of ours is full of people who are discriminating on the basis of complexion- specifically girls- darker girls are looked down upon- they are not perceived to be pretty. Everyone knows of the problems faced by their poor parents in getting them married. Several shows on the Indian prime time are showcasing the low about darker girls- I need not illume much on that.

What I fail to understand is, we live in Indian society, where more than 50 percent of people are on the wheatish side and very less fit in the category of gori or gora (and they do not satisfy the Indian beauty standards- at least in my opinion) and still we have to face such bullshit from one or the other person- I too have come across some real mean comments on my complexion when I actually do not fit in the category of Dark (No Offences Intended). I mean who says we do not practice Apartheid in India?

Okay, ask any Indian girl what qualities would they like in their partner- their instant reply would be- Tall, Dark, Handsome. When Men are desired to be darker, dont you understand this darkness cannot be subsided in coming generations- are you ready to mingle your Fairness with darkness? If yes, why do you bother being Fairer?

I don not understand why do people wan to be fairer? I myself have a few friends who are very conscious about their complexion and I guess they would have emptied about a tonn kilogram of fairness products till date on their faces and have try every possible way to get one shade fairer.. They would have applied every possible thing Freon the Daadi Maa Nuskha diary on their faces ranging from malai to a spice called Kalaunji, from milk to potato (I know of few as I have been un wantingly suggested many times).

Those Firangs, they ruled us for over 400 years, and we are still living the inferiority complexes they planted within our society to make themselves superior. Now those whites, allured with the darker shades, are spending millions of dollars and pounds on inventing technologies to get tans- they get expensive treatments for getting one shade darker and we are still wishing to be fairer..

I mean guys, Wake up!! 2008 is almost gone and we might be left with another 4 years to live on this planet - (if we believe the theory of 12 Dec 2012 :D), we got much more important things to do than to bother about being one shade lighter.

And as Michael Jackson puts it,

"You're thinkin' of
Being my brother
It don't matter if you're
Black or white

Ooh, ooh
Yea, yea, yea now
Ooh, ooh
Yea, yea, yea now

It's black, it's white
It's tough for you to get by
It's black , it's white, whoo

It's black, it's white
It's tough for you to get by
It's black , it's white, whoo"

Gone are the days..

Recieved an e-mail

Gone are the days..
When
The school reopened in June,
And we settled in our new desks and
benches!
When we queued up in book depot,
And got our new books
and notes!

When we wanted two Sundays and no Mondays,
Yet
managed to line up daily for the morning prayers.
We learnt writing with
slates and pencils, and
Progressed To fountain pens and ball pens and then Micro tips!
When we began drawing with crayons and evolved to
Color pencils and finally sketch pens!

When we started calculating
first with tables and then with
Clarke's tables and advanced to
Calculators and computers!
When we chased one another in the
corridors in Intervals, and returned to the classrooms
Drenched in sweat!

When we had lunch in classrooms, corridors,
Playgrounds,
under the trees and even in cycle sheds!
When all the colors in the world,
Decorated the campus on the Second Saturdays!

When a single P.T. period in the week's Time Table,
Was awaited more eagerly than the monsoons!

When cricket was played with writing pads as bats,
And Neckties and socks rolled into balls!
When few played
"kabadi" and "Kho-Kho" in scorching sun,
While others simply played
"book cricket" in the
Confines of classroom!

Of fights but no conspiracies,
Of Competitions but seldom jealousy!
When we used to
watch Live Cricket telecast,
In the opposite house in Intervals and Lunch breaks!
When few rushed at 3:45 to
"Conquer" window seats in our School bus!
While few others had "Big Fun", "peppermint",
"kulfi", " milk ice !" and "sharbat !" at
4o Clock!

Gone are the days
Of Sports Day,
and the annual School Day ,
And the one-month long
preparations for them.

Gone are the days
Of the stressful Quarterly,
Half Yearly and Annual Exams, And the most
enjoyed holidays after them!

Gone are the days
of tenth and twelfth standards, when
we spent almost the whole year writing revision tests!

We learnt,

We enjoyed,

We played,

We won,

We lost,

We laughed,

We cried,

We fought,

We thought.

With so much fun in them, so many friends,
So much experience, all this and more!

Gone are the days
when we used
to talk for hours with our friends!
Now we don't have time to say a 'Hi'!

Gone are the days
when we played games on the road!
Now we
Code on the road with laptop!

Gone are the days
when we saw stars
shining at Night!
Now we see stars when our code doesn't
Work!

Gone are the days
when we even troubled
the girls/boys on the street!
Now we do have girls/boys around us but
still dont find time to talk to them

Gone are the days
When we sat to chat with Friends on grounds!
Now we chat in chat rooms.....!

Gone are the days
where we
studied just to pass!
Now we study to save our job!

Gone are the days
where we had no money in our pockets and still fun filled on our
hearts!!
Now we have the ATM as well as credit card but with an empty heart!!

Gone are the days
where we shouted on the road!
Now we don't shout even at home

Gone are the days
where we got lectures from all!
Now we give lectures to all... like the one I'm doing now....!!

Gone are the days
But not the memories, which will be
Lingering in our hearts forever and ever and
Ever and ever and ever .....

Some Feelings can’t be expressed in Short Titles

It is not friendship day I know, but when you have such good friends around you, each day is friendship day.

The not-so-pagal-guy happens to be my bestest fella and what I am gonna key down (write) over here is not somewhat like a junior school essay on 'my best friend'.

Since you are away, I know you miss us all, and we here are missing you. Here are Top 3 reasons why I miss you-

3. I wanna have (for the time being not considering the calorie contribution) all those McSwirls, Nirvanas, Ebony n Ivories and Gelatos we missed to have together.

2. I want you to see the yieldings of your labor on giving expressions to my thoughts.

1. God gives two shoulders to everyone to carry their heavy heads, but when you walked into my life, I felt as if he has gifted me additional two. And now since you are away, I have started getting frequent headaches ;-)

P.S. –

1. Guys!! Expecting a love story over here is analogous to expecting a rock concert outta Ghulam Ali.

2. With God's grace, we are not fought, it's just a dedication.

Flicks in Late

Just finished with the Movie "A Wednesday". Now this is actually 'a movie' I've watched in a long time.

No, I am literally wondering how creative can people be!! I liked the whole idea of the movie, presentation, the script, the characters, everything!!

Naseer-ud-din Shah is as great as ever, Anupam Kher was noticed hitting a budmash I guess for the first time, Jimmy Shergill (besides the personal liking for him) played good, Amir Bashir was cute as ever. Please someone find the best suitable role of a cottage industry worker either 'tokri maker' or 'bidi maker' for Deepal Shaw..

The 'Stupid Common Man' was actually very catchy and the way he did not have a name was justified by Anupam Kher saying "naam me log mazhab dhoond liya karte hain", I read this somewhere that it was Naseer-ud-din Shah's idea for the movie.

Rock On!! was not as great as expected. The not-so-pagal-guy (a dear friend) had warned me already that it is a movie to be watched in theatre, but I could not help it. !!Sighs!! May be that is why I dint like it much. Dil Chahta hai was way better, rather the best one of the lot. Mandatory mentions- Debbie was undoubtedly good, Farhan Akhtar was okay too (besides his "lean posture"). And worst part was the sight of Annu Malik talking of "originality".

And another one I liked lately is Ugly aur Pagli. Humor- not vulgar, not cheap, was the basic strength besides the music (Hard Kaur's Talli and Mohit Chuhan's Yaad teri), Shorrey looked cute while dancing [:D]

Left with Tahaan, Bachna Ae Haseeno, and Hijack out of the DVD. Hoping Tahaan to be good and Khuda Kay Liye too I'll manage by this week.

-Besides, Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Aazam" dekh daali ". [:!] Please do not bother to ask me how do I like or do not like the movie, NO COMMENTS!!

-Managed the DVDs of Rock on!!, A Wednesday and Tahaan- Reviews coming soon.

-My 'Best Friends' Wedding' is approaching and the coming Sunday is the Bangle Ceremony, I am a li'l "busy" with the arrangements [:">]

I'll obviously flaunt the arrangements over here when they are ready for the same.

-I am tired and drained!!

Off for today, will be back with some stuff soon!!

Insomniac

3.45 am and no hint of sleep yet!!

Insomnia fits are back, Reading isn't interesting, have reached the quota of movie tonight with the 'Vacancy', don't know what to do, switched on Lappy again; still don't know what to click on.

I know the reason, I am being a li'l too mean these days and though I avoid admitting it, the 'Conscious' is alive!!

(Sh)It Happens!!

Yeah I borrowed the title!!
But I juz feel to scratch someone (read: The laughing idiot) with my nails..
Last weekend I did not have company to watch the long awaited "Rock on" and this weekend, before I could ask anyone to come along, I hate the idea, but the movie has been replaced by Navjot Singh Siddhu's debutant "Mera Pind" in whole of Amritsar!!
Shit Shit Shit!!!
Now I have to wait for the DVD obviously pirated (I feel embrassed confessing that my Desktop doesnot co-operate me in torrents but anyhow I love Limewire), till then, "I'll miss you Bollywood". but Cha.alo, I'll manage (I will have to- no way out).
Yeah, Singh is Kinng is the only new arrival I managed to sneak on DVD, Bachna Ae Haseeno, Mumbai meri jaan, Via Darjeeling, Ugly-Pagli, Mughal-e- Azam (yeah I intend to watch both one for Bose and other for Shorrey) and loads more are in the queue still.. :(

A Letter to Myself!!

Dear Richa,
Happy Teacher's Day to you.
Today is your Second teacher's day. Though you do not have even one student today, but all those students you have taught to in the past year, still like you. And they proved it by remembering to call you and wish you.
But this honor of yours remains very mean unless you thank all those teachers who have contributed in your life. Though you have liked them or not, but truth stays unchanged that your teachers brought mutations in your learnings.. The bad ones introduced you with the real worldliness and the good ones, as every one knows pushed you towards your goals.
You have to be thankful to the teachers in School, undoubtedly try to remain unbiased, but even if you felt they were inclined towards the cream of the class, you can understand their state of being so now when you have been into similar profession.. And those nicer teachers (actually intending otherwise) who kept you standing for whole of the day in the name of reading the chapter aloud in the class, in real senses, enlightened you with the "duniyadaari"..
Thank those professors of the University, though they gave you lower internals without any apparent reasons, they still liked you as a part of the class..
And remember to thank you tuition teachers as well- the ones whose sweat and labour bagged you distinction throughout..
And donot forget to thank all those extra curricualr teachers who tried their level best to make you learn skating, other outdoor games, gyming, salsa, bhangra and other numerous things you left in between and never went back to them to even thank them.
And most importantly, you should be thankful to God, for giving you this biggest teacher called LIFE, which teaches a new lesson with every passing moment..
Stay blessed with such Great teachers..
Love!!!

The Insensitive Me

I know I am being Insensitive, but I can't help it!! Its been almost 4 days and I've cramped my tummy, but still its hard for me to stop laughing.

I know I should not spill the beans over here (but as I just said I know I am being insensitive). All out of the blues, out of nowhere, most unexpectedly, I find myself into a hyper weird teenage situation and I am wondering how to tackle with it.

What do you do when your 'long forgotten
childhood crush'
dedicates the most romantic song made in the history of Bollywood (no, I am not opening bets for guessing the song right) to you purposely and tells you that he still feels for you seriously?? Now someone tell me what else would they do besides laughing in such a state?

I mean it is heights.. I really do not know what to say and I am saying all wrong things that would surely hurt him, besides, I am finding it amusing when things like "I cant treat u as a friend anymore" are shot on and I cant help laughing on being (un)-dignified with the adjectives like "heart-less" (this aint the first time though).

Yeah yeah, I simply aint an 'Emotional Fool'!!

I don't mean to make him the laughing property over here, but I am rather analysing myself on "how insensitive can I get", but even after long hours of third degree torture and question- answer sessions with myself, I still am blank. I am not able to procreate even one feeling. Nothing like I am ignorant, but I have had my share of trouble and dissonances but now I am too convinced to 'eschew any obfuscations'

And I refuse to do a thing about it.

P.S.- Teenage Tips are invited on how to repel such uninvited perplexities.
