Jaa Chudail!!

This song from Delhi Belly is super. I am totally in love with it. Not because of the music or the movie or the broken heart spirit of the song, but for Chudail.
Chudail. How I love this word. It makes me nostalgic beyond explanation. I have heard this word in like ages.
It reminds of my childhood when my with my chachu, I used to do such things. :D Rhyming nonsensical things and making songs out of them. It used to be such fun. Chudail, bhoot, pret, some other controversial caste identification words counted as cuss words. Teasing people we dint like (mostly the weird cousins) with those songs.
Gawd, I called up my chachu first thing when I heard that song first. :)
Gone are the days when these funny words comprised all of my abusive vocab. People would not consider them as nothing, but during those times, Kutta- Kameena used to be the highest degree of abusing someone. And now, these don't even qualify as gaalis.
The growing up part also expands people's vocabularies, so was mine. Thanks to Twitter, many many cuss words and abuses got included in mine. 'Fuck' has become a part of speech. Even though I chew it most of the times in the mouth itself, but there are times when it does escape and makes me feel embarrassed at some places.
Anyway, the word chudail and like still have their charm and for sure, I am going to include it back in my vocab. Also, I am going to need it in coming time. I was referring 'Bitch cousin' who was originally 'chudail cousin', who now will be chudail again.

And hats off to Amitabh Bhattacharya for such amazing lyrics. I already respect him, but the respect just got multiplied manifolds. :)
Kudos to this lyrics:
Chhoti chhoti baato'n se
Tune jo sataya mujhe
Ungli pe nachake tune
Chuna jo lagaya mujhe
Arey jaa jaa jaa
Go to hell....

Arey jaa ja ja

I want silence
Jaa chudail
Jaa chudail
Ya ya
Ja chudail

Palkon pe bithaya tujhe

Ruthi toh manaya tujhe
Pyaar mein toh khuda
Bhi banaya tujhe par (par)
Tujhko kadar nahi
Yeh le dekh thenga mera
Ha ha ha
Tail lene ja tu
Koi kya ukhad lega mera
Ae..
Abey ja ja ja
Go to hell...
Ja ja ja
Once again
Jaa chudail
Ja chudail
Chudail...fida...

Phoolon sa chehra tera

Dil pe tha pehra tera
Reh gaya ab wahaan
Dard gehra tera
Hat...

Phool vool kuch nahi

Sada hua aalo hai tu
You know what you are
Hoor nahi pari nahi
Jungli ek bhaalu hai tu

Arey ha ha ha

Go to hell
Arey ja ja ja
Everybody
Jaa chudail
Jaa chudail
Jaa chudail
Chudail....
Abey ja ja ja
Go to hell
Ja ja ja
Once again
Jaa chudail
Jaa chudail
Chudail
Yea yea.

Miss you Daadi..

Grand parents are like trees. They never fail to give us shade and fruits, nevertheless we have time to use that shade and fruit.
When a tree goes away to never return, the grandchildren then realize how safe they were.
I will miss you Forever..

What Our Coming Generations Are Going to Miss

While writing the Practical File for my brother's last Engg semester, I realized I was seeing my own handwriting in a long while. I couldn't recognize my own handwriting. Ever since I completed my academics, I hardly write. Thanks to the modernization, the keyboards, touchscreens have replaced the need of a pen or pencil.

That's when this thought stuck me. Our coming generations probably would get to know in the history books/ PDFs, that humankind wrote with bare hands, or they used devices called pens and pencils.  Funny, but heartbreaking thought.

Not just writing, but there are so many things I wonder our coming generations will never know they could do. I was playing this ' A Band called Nine' thanks to @TheMasakkali for sharing it. It took me back to my childhood.

Writing altogether apart, we have almost forgotten we used to write letters to our relatives, cousins. Now Facebook, Skype serve the purpose.

Saving pocket money for months to buy something. Now, almost every school going kid has a cell phone.

The excitement of wearing a new dress on birthday. Waiting a whole year for birthday. Birthday parties meant samose, rasgulle, cutlets. Now, Pizza Hut, Yo!China et al are there. For teenagers, bars are open.

Waiting for summer vacations for visiting naani house. Those long train journeys, visiting relatives, plucking mangoes, guavas fresh out of the tress and eating them. Mall Culture would never give the future this opportunity.

Those hours long Antakshri sessions. Everyone these days has a personal iPod, mp3 player. At the maximum, now, we steal our share of happiness or pride by sharing our pirated music collection through emails, bluetooth, wi-fi.

Pickling season used to be the best. Raw mangoes, lemons in the courtyard drying.

Fighting for remote with siblings used to be such fun. Now everyone has their own laptop, own internet connection.

Everyone is busy with themselves. Who knows if our coming generations would ever know the fun of bathing by a well.

Yes, pitying them is all I can do. No, I am not against technology, in fact, I have become a slave to it too. Just, it is killing the childhood or what we called 'childhood'.

TVC Thursday - Fevicol

Having to remember the childhood days is such a beautiful feeling and therefore this TVC Thursday tah is giving me immense pleasure. When I surf through Youtube to look out for old advertisements,
the funniest thing is to see people we dint recognize then and find how much they have changed over time. In the same line of action, I hereby bring you the old Advertisement of Fevicol- the adhesive we all know/ remember as 'zor laga ke haisha!'. Try to recognize the man in the advertisement. Its none other than RajKumar Hirani. Yes, the director who gave us Munna Bhai Series and 3 idiots. Raj Kumar Hirani had initially been interested in acting. Somehow, he turned into directing later on.
So here goes the 'Hayiishaa!!'

TVC Thursday- Surf

Afterall, this TVC Thursday was not a bad idea at all. I get to recollect the commercials from my childhood :D

Well, Like they said in old time, 'this program is brought to you by Surf. This time, the Old Classic Indian Ad of Surf is brought to you by yours truly :D

Remember Lalita ji? 'surf ki kharidari mein hi samajhdaari hai'
Oh and in case you cant recall where else this lady featured, remember the Udaan TV serial from Doordarshan. Kavita Chaudhary aka Lalita ji, played Kalyani Singh a lady police officer and her trials and tribulations. Wiki here.

TVC Thursday

Indian television has been a constant part of the growing up process if you were born in early 80s and thereafter.
The Doordarshan times with Chitrahar, movies, Hum Log, Buniyaad, Fauji, Circus, Dekh Bhai Dekh, Zaban Sambhal ke, Ramayan, Mahabharat, the 'rukawat ke liye khed hai sign' and many others.

Somehow, what always attracted to television was the television commercials. The #EpicIndianAds as we call them on Twitter. I realised that I remember the jingels of some of the brands by heart, which most of the other people are unaware of the existance of. And then this thought struck my mind. Why not recall one such commercial every week and rekindle the blog?

Youtubing was done and it was analysed that this could work out. :D

So, here is the first post of TVC Thursday tag.

This is an ages old advertisement of ECE Bulbs featuring Paintel. 'Bhool na jana, ECE Bulb lana' :)

P.S. Let me know in the comment section if there is any old ad you remember and want to see next Thursday :)

Calling all Online Friends

Gmail and Gtalk are my lifeline these days. I do have an account for Yahoo, but I use it very occasionally.
Last night, just out of the blues I logged into my another long abandoned yahoo messenger account. It had been hacked and all, so i had to abandon it. I haven't logged into that account for ages. I logged into my mail box as well expecting yahoo to had delete it for non usage, but to my surprise, it was intact, but of course flooded with spam mails. I was just surfing through it when I found an email from a friend. There were some pictures attached. It was from Rick, an online friend. He was an Aussie.

And it all came back to me.

I was fresh into the college that was when I had my internet connection at home. Yahoo chats had been so in those days, I too used to pass a considerable time on them.. I would have bumped into him in some Chat rooms, I cant even remember the details. It has been so long.

Very calm, down to earth sort of person he was, as much as I remember. He was a photographer, located at Sydney, almost my age, I was 18 then. He lived alone with a friend who was his best friend's sister. Her name was Nancy. He use to tell me a lot about Nancy. She was under depression, unfortunately her mother and brother who happened to be Rick's best friend had been inside the WTC on 9/11. I remember he told me that when he was very drunk and could not even remember he told me about it the very next day.

His dad was a farmer living somewhere in the country side nearby and his mom lived in New York with his younger brother. He frequented to NY lot of times to see them.

When my id got hacked, I lost contact with him. He was there on Orkut, but anyhow, he deleted his profile. At times, when I read mails like how people found their long lost friends and relatives on social networking sites, I do search for him, but no luck yet. :)

I dont know why am I writing this, but since I recalled that friend of mine who is not in contact any more, and I am unable to locate him, I just want to let him know that he is being missed.

Now your turn to tell me about any such online friend of yours outside of the blogging world. You may or may not be in contact with them, but you still remember them and want them to know you do.

Anecdote Platter: I miss my Univ

MBA, we were better known as the Mass Bunk Association. The complete 5 years had been rocking in the University. Class rooms, Lectures, Canteens, Parking, Library, Photocopy machines, Coffee corners, Garden of our deptt, freahers, farewells, parties, friends, masti and exams.. (*sighs* those were the days!!)

There is a Punjabi number about college from the movie : Yaaran naal baharaan (springs come with friends)

it says:
College wich padhna v hai,
honde te chadhna v hai,
mittraan ne taurhan kadd ke,
modaan te khadna v hai,
paas v zarror aappan hona,
esse da rona

Translating it, it says- we study in college, mount our hondas (bikes), showing ourselves off, we shall stand at the turns of the roads- gawking, n we gotta pass the exams too, this is what we bother.. It truly defines the college life..

I am gonna share a few anecdotes of my studentship in the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.

Anecdote 1.

The day one of my Univ is still the most memorable day of the complete 5 years. I had taken the admission, but since, I had to go to Simla for a family vacation, I had not joined the classes.
So, after a week of the classes, I went to attend my first class, I was damn excited, straight Univ from school, new surroundings, new faces, new friends, new life.

I reached at 8.50 for the class at 9. Empty class. Excited.
9.00, still empty class, tolerable.
9.15, the lecturer arrives. She asks me in vernacular Punjabi (which used to be an alien language to me even after my schooling through out from Amritsar itself) about the rest of missing class, I whine n tell her that I joined today only so know nothing. She decides to wait for another 5 minutes and interview me. I look at her face and she looks back at me as if I were a non- human.
9.20, another girl, skinny, looks like a scholar enters the class and asks the lecturer if she has taken attendance, she whines and asks where the class is, and then the other girl, who is by now understood to be a class fellow announces that the class was on the mass bunk for the day.
I look at her with dilated eyes.

Anecdote 2.
Tech fest by the Computer Science deptt. The Gang decides to put up a Gambling stall 'Lucky 7'.
The idea is - people can stake their money on three of the options- Below 7, Above 7, and Lucky 7, 2 dices will be thrown, whatever sum the dices show, that option shall win and the winners get double their money, and lucky 7 won 3 times their money. 3 days of the game and we minted money :D and celebrated laters on with a deptt trip to Manali. This game not only made us rich, but popular too :D

Anecdote 3.

It is also one of the most embarrassing situations I have landed myself into.

The gratification you derive when you see your toil and efforts being brought to pass is just awesome..
The gang had been working (read: desisting our masti n sleep organizing things) really hard since past 2 months for this.. it had to be a National level fest in which teams from different institutions wud compete for the title "Super Managers of the Future" having to go through a number of levels, passing them, playing best management games.
It was the second day of a "Three day Management-Fest : XANSA 2006", organized by the gang in our insti..
The gang were on the stage of the jam packed audi- capacity 2000, with curtains pulled on, making seating arrangements for the participants of the next game: the finale for the "AD MAD SHOW" which I had to host. And it happened such that the DJ (please read the useless guy) happened to play Shakira's Hips Dont lie, and as the music reached my ears, my other senses started responding and unaware, I too were moving my butt with Shakira's only when I heard the audience giggling and commenting when I realised someone had pulled the curtains off and the whole audi was enjoying my Live performance :D

Embarrassed, i ran back stage, and the rest is history.. Please imagine things that followed.. :D

I guess enough for the day.

Signing off for now..

XOXO!!

Feeling Blue

Shuffling through the I-pod, I just stumbled upon a very favorite track after long time.
(OST- The Name Sake, Artist- Susheela Raman- it is a remix version, original is from a Bollywood classic (B n W), ignorant of the name of the movie the Artist is Mukesh- I love the former version.)

Ye mera Deevanapan hai, ya mohhabat ka suroor,
Tu na pehchane to hai ye, teri nazron ka kasoor…

Dunno why, today I just feel draining myself over here.. Vacuum sucks man!!
(OST- Music & Lyrics. Artists- Hugh Grant & Haley Bannet)

All I wanna do is find a way back into love,
I cant make it through without a way back into love..

Till then, Cha.alo I'll Manage...

Gone are the days..

Recieved an e-mail

Gone are the days..
When
The school reopened in June,
And we settled in our new desks and
benches!
When we queued up in book depot,
And got our new books
and notes!

When we wanted two Sundays and no Mondays,
Yet
managed to line up daily for the morning prayers.
We learnt writing with
slates and pencils, and
Progressed To fountain pens and ball pens and then Micro tips!
When we began drawing with crayons and evolved to
Color pencils and finally sketch pens!

When we started calculating
first with tables and then with
Clarke's tables and advanced to
Calculators and computers!
When we chased one another in the
corridors in Intervals, and returned to the classrooms
Drenched in sweat!

When we had lunch in classrooms, corridors,
Playgrounds,
under the trees and even in cycle sheds!
When all the colors in the world,
Decorated the campus on the Second Saturdays!

When a single P.T. period in the week's Time Table,
Was awaited more eagerly than the monsoons!

When cricket was played with writing pads as bats,
And Neckties and socks rolled into balls!
When few played
"kabadi" and "Kho-Kho" in scorching sun,
While others simply played
"book cricket" in the
Confines of classroom!

Of fights but no conspiracies,
Of Competitions but seldom jealousy!
When we used to
watch Live Cricket telecast,
In the opposite house in Intervals and Lunch breaks!
When few rushed at 3:45 to
"Conquer" window seats in our School bus!
While few others had "Big Fun", "peppermint",
"kulfi", " milk ice !" and "sharbat !" at
4o Clock!

Gone are the days
Of Sports Day,
and the annual School Day ,
And the one-month long
preparations for them.

Gone are the days
Of the stressful Quarterly,
Half Yearly and Annual Exams, And the most
enjoyed holidays after them!

Gone are the days
of tenth and twelfth standards, when
we spent almost the whole year writing revision tests!

We learnt,

We enjoyed,

We played,

We won,

We lost,

We laughed,

We cried,

We fought,

We thought.

With so much fun in them, so many friends,
So much experience, all this and more!

Gone are the days
when we used
to talk for hours with our friends!
Now we don't have time to say a 'Hi'!

Gone are the days
when we played games on the road!
Now we
Code on the road with laptop!

Gone are the days
when we saw stars
shining at Night!
Now we see stars when our code doesn't
Work!

Gone are the days
when we even troubled
the girls/boys on the street!
Now we do have girls/boys around us but
still dont find time to talk to them

Gone are the days
When we sat to chat with Friends on grounds!
Now we chat in chat rooms.....!

Gone are the days
where we
studied just to pass!
Now we study to save our job!

Gone are the days
where we had no money in our pockets and still fun filled on our
hearts!!
Now we have the ATM as well as credit card but with an empty heart!!

Gone are the days
where we shouted on the road!
Now we don't shout even at home

Gone are the days
where we got lectures from all!
Now we give lectures to all... like the one I'm doing now....!!

Gone are the days
But not the memories, which will be
Lingering in our hearts forever and ever and
Ever and ever and ever .....

Whenever, Wherever

Shakira gives move to the bums everyone knows. Her "hips dun lie" and she has taught this to whole planet as well. But this number of hers "When ever, Where ever" juz gives me another reason to shake and get a li'l nostalgic (I have been looking for a synonym for nostalgia but no luck as far but yeah the dictionary meaning fulfills the required: a bittersweet longing for something or some one). Besides the music that catches on the dance floor, the lyrics too are catchy and lovely.

Lucky you were born that far away so
So we could both make fun of distance
Lucky that I love a foreign land for
The lucky fact of your existence
Baby I would climb the Andes solely
To count the freckles on your body
Never could imagine there were only
Ten million ways to love somebody

Lo ro lo le lo le
Lo ro lo le lo le
Can't you see...I'm at your feet

Whenever, wherever
We'll learn to be together
I'll be there and you'll be near
And that's the deal my dear
They're over, you're under
You'll never have to wonder
We can always play by ear
But that's the deal my dear

Lucky that my lips not only mumble
They spill kisses like a fountain
Lucky that my breasts are small and humble
So you don't confuse them with mountains
Lucky I have strong legs like my mother
To run for cover when I need it
And these two eyes are for no other
The day you leave we'll cry a river

Lo ro lo le lo le
Lo ro lo le lo le
At your feet...I'm at your feet

Whenever, Wherever
We're meant to be together
I'll be there and you'll be near
And that's the deal my dear
They're over, you're under
You'll never have to wonder
We can always play by ear
But that's the deal my dear

Lo ro lo le lo le
Lo ro lo le lo le

Its Say we can fly, say it again

Lo ro lo le lo le lo le

Tell me one more time
That you'll live
Lost in my eyes

Whenever, wherever
We'll learn to be together
I'll be there and you'll be near
And that's the deal my dear
They're over, you're under
You've got me head over heels
There's nothing left to fear
If you really feel the way I feel

Whenever, wherever
We're meant to be together
I'll be there and you'll be near
And that's the deal my dear
There over, Hereunder

You've got me head over heels
There's nothing left to fear
If you really feel the way I feel

P.S.-
I know where to make the alterations.
